Demerger begins with a razor gifted to me by my father—an everyday object that gradually became a gender-coded symbol of transition. Over time, it came to mark an irreversible shift in identity: the moment of leaving adolescence and entering young adulthood.
Using this intimate yet widely recognisable object as a lens, the project reflects on how young men negotiate changing self-perception and social expectations. It focuses on the dilemmas embedded in the process of “becoming a man”, translating personal memory into a broader narrative of masculinity, pressure, and identity formation.
